Preschool Student Assessor
Uniontown, PA
Approximate Dates - March 15th – April 29th 2010
A social research company is hiring Preschool Student Assessors in various states across the country for a study
that investigates how preschool programs can most effectively support children’s social-emotional development.
STUDENT ASSESSOR POSITION
• Administer standardized student assessments to preschool students
• Assess students approximately 20-30 hours per week for approximately 4 weeks
• Paid at a rate of $26 an hour
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• BA/BS degree in psychology, early childhood education, child development, a related field or equivalent
knowledge of early childhood education
• Experience administering standardized assessments with preschool children
• Strong interpersonal skills with both adults and preschool-age children
• Willingness to work in unfamiliar neighborhoods and school settings
• Access to a reliable computer, web access and strong computer skills
• Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable car, and ability to travel throughout the Uniontown district; North
Union, Merrittstown, Connellsville, Masontown
• Ability to work well independently and under the direction of project coordinators
• Ability to work from approximately 8 am to 2 pm (20-30 hours/week) from March through April 2010
• Ability to attend a week-long paid training in early March 2010
• Ability to complete 20 – 30 hours of pre-training study in late February 2010
• Able to travel to Assessor Training Workshop
• Must be able to reach and maintain reliability in administering assessments
• Must be detail oriented, highly organized, able to follow standardized procedures and committed to the study
• Must participate in weekly, scheduled contact calls with SRM staff
• Flexibility to assist project coordinators with special projects during study
• Must complete and pass criminal background check
Preferred
• Master’s degree in early childhood education, early intervention, educational psychology, developmental
psychology, or related field.
• Bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish
• Experience working at preschool environments
• Experience implementing one-on-one assessments with preschoolers
• Experience implementing the Woodcock-Johnson, Challenging Situations Task (CST), Expressive One-Word
Picture Vocabulary Test (EOWPVT), Emotional Recognition Questionnaire (ERQ), and/or similar assessment tools
• Recent DOE security clearance (criminal history check) and TB test

Classroom Observer

CLASSROOM OBSERVER POSITION
• Conduct classroom observations using standardized assessment tools
• Classroom Observers will work approximately 20- 30 hours per week
• Classroom Observers will be paid at a rate of $26 an hour
QUALIFICATIONS

knowledge of early childhood education

• Must complete criminal background check
Preferred
• Master’s degree in early childhood education, early intervention, educational psychology, developmental
psychology, or related field.
• Experience working at preschool environments
• Experience conducting observations and assessments in an early childhood setting
• Familiarity with the CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System)
• Recent DOE security clearance (criminal history check) and TB test
